A long freakin’ drive

The same distance in another direction and I'd have been on another continent.

I am safe in Bend, Oregon now, writing this from a hotel room. I’ve not updated lately, but this is the big news. I got a real life job at the newspaper in Bend, the Bulletin. (Forgive their website, it kind of is not good.) I’ll be designing and copy editing pages.

The trip took a while. Michelle and I left on Friday at 3 p.m. Indiana time and arrived in Bend Sunday at 7 a.m. Indiana time, which is 5 a.m. Bend time. For the record, I don’t remember Illinois at all, Iowa sucks, Nebraska sucks worse, Wyoming is a lot bigger than it looks on a map, Utah is OK, and Eastern Oregon is desolate. Bend is really nice though. We likes it.

I have lots to do, so I won’t bore you with the details. Eventually I’ll have all new contact information so be watching for that. I start work tomorrow and move into a new apartment on Friday. Then, it’s all details. Wish me luck.
