Six more weeks

Looks like Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and ran back in his hole this morning. That means six more weeks of winter.

It always seemed weird to me, that if the sun were out in would mean more winter. But Phil isn’t really a forecaster. He’s a symbol of spring. If he doesn’t get scared and run away, that means spring is right around the corner. Not that it’s important. The dumb rodent is wrong most of the time.

And happy Candlemas to all of my Catholic friends.

Oh, and happy Imbolc to all of my pagan friends.

On this date in 1882, James Joyce was born. And in 1979, Sid Vicious got a little too high.

Oh yes, and in 1983, I was born!
