Current work
Visit my Flickr portfolio set to view high-res JPEGs my page design work that I currently consider worthwhile.
I currently design pages for The Bulletin in Bend, Oregon. In addition, I also do freelance graphic design. To inquire about hiring me out for freelance work, visit the contact page. The contact page is on the fritz, email me at ajzeigert AT gmail DOT com.
For the moment, you can see recent pages I have designed in the sidebar of the front page of Apostrophe S. The sidebar images are an RSS feed of pages I have posted to Flickr with the tag portfolio.
You can find a similar but more extensive set of pages at my Newspagedesigner.com stream. (Hopefully News Page Designer will eventually offer RSS feeds, so I don’t have to post them twice.)

Magazine design
I designed and produced a literary magazine called Splashed Ink for a class project while in college. The design was well received, and I always wish had been able to make more.
I redesigned the Mid-American Journal of Business, both the print product and the online edition, which is powered by Wordpress, as is this site.
Web design
In addition to Apostrophe S, I have designed and maintained several other websites:
- DN Online - The web edition of The Ball State Daily News, the student newspaper at Ball State University, for which I served as online editor for one semester.
- Mid-American Journal of Business - (currently not online) - Produced graphics, updated and generally maintained the MAJB online archive, as well as produced a forthcoming redesign.
- BasketBallState (currently not online) - Designed, built and maintained a site dedicated to covering Ball State Basketball.
- Railroad Crossing project - Designed, produced and collected information for a class project on railroad crossings in Muncie. Built entirely in Macromedia Flash. (plugin required)
Writing
Samples of my journalistic writing can be best found at the Daily News website by searching for “zeigert”.
I wrote two entries for the Our Land, Our Literature project at Ball State University, my brief foray into published academic writing.
I won’t bore you with everything I wrote in college, but below you’ll find a few papers I thought turned out particularly well.
- Dune vs. Dune vs. Dune (.rtf) - An analyses and camparison of Frank Herbert’s novel, the David Lynch film adaptation, and the SciFi miniseries.
- Grandfathers (.rtf) - A story about an interview I did with my grandfathers about their lives.
- Human Arrogance (.rtf) - An essay about human dependancy on fossil fuels, in response to Coal: A Human History by Barbara Freese.
- Like Company In Heat (.rtf) - An analysis of the film “Heat”.
Photography
I don’t fancy myself an expert photographer, but I have some skill at framing a shot. I’m trying to keep my Flickr account updated as much as possible.
For a taste, I think the photos in this set are representative of my mad photographic skillz.
